APRÈS S'ÊTRE FAITS REMARQUER AU CONCOURS INTERNATIONAL D'AFFICHES POSTER FOR TOMORROW, édition 2012, VENEZ LES RENCONTRER:

L'École Multidisciplinaire de l'image (ÉMI) de l'Université du Québec en Outaouais (UQO) et La Galerie Montcalm de la ville de Gatineau, présentent l'exposition Poster for tomorrow 2012, une exposition de 100 affiches-simultanément dans plus de 30 autres villes à travers le monde.

Ces 100 affiches ont été sélectionnées parmi les 3020 reçues de 105 pays à l’issue du concours annuel de poster for tomorrow. Cette années encore, deux affiches produites ici figurent parmi les 100 gagnants. Nous aurons égalemen

t le plaisir de présenter les 5 autres participants qui font partie de la pré-sélection des 300 meilleurs.

Venez les découvrir du 6 au 16 décembre 2012 à la Galerie Montcalm – 25 rue Laurier – Gatineau.

Cette édition est organisée sous le patronage du Conseil de l’Europe et du Ministère des Affaires Etrangères. Elle est parrainée par Irina Bokova, Directrice Générale de l’UNESCO et Michelle Bachelet, ancienne Présidente de la République du Chili, Directrice exécutive de l’ONU Femmes.

Les deux affiches gagnantes parmi les 100 meilleures ont été produites par:

1) Deux étudiants actuels qui l'ont produite sous le pseudonyme Le Duo oreille gauche qui sont Milie-Daphné Leduc de l'ÉMI(UQO) et Vincent Foultier (étudiants français en échange chez nous et faisant partie de notre entente avec l'ECV Paris). Leur affiche Next Step in Evolution a été utilisée pour la promotion de l'événement.

2) Suzanne Bélair, diplômée de l'ÉMI ayant participé à nos ateliers du mois de mai 2012 et qui paraîtra dans le catalogue de la prochaine programmation de la Galerie Montcalm.

 who has been included in the best 100 still, but if you're in the shortlist there's a good chance you may be!

The big piece of news is that, as you can see from the picture, the 10 best posters (each hand picked by one of our jury members) are now public!

A FEW TIPS TO DESIGN A WINNING ENTRY

As you know already, the deadline for poster submissions to the current edition of Poster for Tomorrow: "Gender Equality Now!" has been postponed (no pun intended) to the 15th of July.

We imagine that many of you might be refining your artworks before sending them in.

It seems like the perfect time not only to thank you again for the enthusiasm, creativity and support that you showed since we released the call for entries, but also for giving you a few tips about the submission process.


Here we go:

1) We expect you to submit a single poster for each concept you come up with, i.e. not a campaign composed of multiple subjects or different versions of the same poster concept. Still, you may send up to 10 different entries. By different we mean entries with a different idea, not just a different background colour or a different typeface.

2) The format needs to be the vertical. Landscape entries won't be considered - our exhibition and catalogue are designed to fit vertical posters only, sorry for this limitation.

3) The artwork file must be precisely a 2953x4134 pixels wide JPG at 150DPI, otherwise the uploading may fail.

4) Posters must be judged anonymously and posters with a recognizable name on them could be excluded from the competition. So be humble and avoid putting your name on the poster. 

5) We don't want to influence the judges in any possible way so we decided that poster entries shouldn't feature any logo. Please don't put any logo, even ours, on your poster. 

6) We're awarding only original works designed for this competition only. Please don't send us a poster you designed in the past for a client or for a different competition.

7) Try not to steal your idea from somewhere else! We had many cases of plagiarism spotted by our community in the past. If we don't recognize it, someone else might do it so avoid public shame by having ideas on your own.

Poster for Tomorrow Gender Equality Competition Deadline Extended for Sarajevo Film Festival! This week poster for tomorrow has good news for everyone! The good news for designers all around the world is that poster for tomorrow has extended the deadline for the Gender Equality competition for five more days until (July 15). This is because of the good news we’ve got for the people of Sarajevo - an exciting new collaboration between poster for tomorrow, Council of Europe and Sarajevo Film Festival. The 18th edition of the Sarajevo Film Festival takes place on 6-14 July 2012. In partnership with the Council of Europe, poster for tomorrow will host activities open to all ages and both sexes of the 100,000 visitors to the festival. Graphic design workshops and debates on gender equality will be open to children, young adults and adults. One of the goals of the collaboration is help people to enter this year’s poster for tomorrow competition, hence the global deadline extension. For children, there will be a workshop session organised in collaboration with local designers and NGOs. The aim is to stimulate their awareness about their human rights. For boys and girls, we’ll organize a debate about Gender Equality in everyday life. The discussion will be based on trying to find out ways in which we can show our mutual respect for each other. The results of the debate will be recorded for posterity in a co-created artwork. Finally for adults, there will be two workshop sessions to help anyone who wants to take part in our “Gender Equality Now!” competition. Local graphic designers, poets, writers, students will brainstorm together, debate and exchange ideas to find out how to best express their point of view on this major issue. The workshops will be led by Hervé Matine, co-founder and President of poster for tomorrow, together with leading Bosnian graphic designers Bojan Hadzihalilovic, Aleksandra Nina Knezevic, and representatives of local associations. Ateliers Pan Africain

Une autre initiative de Poster for Tomrrow, les ateliers Pan Africian se dérouleront à partir du 11 juin à Johannesburg. 

Remarquez l'affiche qui prend pour thème celui de l'édition 2012: Gendre Equity. L'utilisation des symboles bien connus, homme-femme, sont ici judicieusement utilisés pour composer l'espace de l'affiche. Il en résulte un message dynamique, cinétique et qui traduit un message autour de la conception d'une équité  en perpétuelle construction...qui reste à faire.

Les ateliers Poster for Tomorrow à l'ÉMI

C'est dans une atmosphère emjouée et créative que se sont déroulés les deux premières semaines d'ateliers Poster for Tomorrow à l'École multidisciplinaire de l'image de l'Université du Québec en Outaouais (UQO).

N'oubliez pas que cette semaine clôturera cette programmation par des ateliers dédiés à la numérisation des affiches.
